OPEN CALL is made to invite 12 Berlin residents (preferably living in the
kreuzberg neighborhood), each to adopt a 600cmx400cmx320cm composting unit.
!2 composting units, each installed with composting worms of Eisenia foetida
species and accessible with roller devices, are constructed on top of a wood
pallet located at Berthanian Garden area. The compost adoptors are committed
to deposit thir food waste (vegetable scrapes, left over, but no meat or
fish produce) and document their daily/weekly food consumption and thoughts
with images and text on the composting the city website.
The composting units, open for artistic exploration with sensor devices,
detecting worm action, composter temparature and moist, generative composter
energy, are kept at the garden till next february when a consequential
networked performance takes place at transmediale2013. Meanwhile, the compost
should be matured for springtime seeding.
